Nine candidates for three 2nd District Court judgeships have been submitted to Gov. Norman Bangerter, who will narrow the list to three nominees and forward it to the Utah Senate for confirmation.
The nine were selected from 42 applicants by a committee from the state court administrator's office. The list of nominees was released Wednesday. The nominees are two 2nd District Circuit judges, Pamela Heffernan and W. Brent West; two deputy Salt Lake County attorneys, Ernest W. Jones and Robert Stott; Brian Namba, a deputy Davis County attorney; and four attorneys in private practice: Michael J. Glasmann, Henry E. Heath, Michael D. Lyon, and Jon Memmott.
All live in the 2nd District, which includes Davis, Weber, and Morgan counties, the court administrator's office said.
District judges Douglas L. Cornaby, Ronald O. Hyde, and David E. Roth are retiring this summer.
Under state law, the governor has 30 days to submit his three candidates to the state Senate, which has up to 45 days to act on the recommendations.
