A Provo man was critically injured Wednesday evening when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed near 550 W. 1975 North.

Eric Poast, 22, is in critical condition in the intensive-care unit at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said. He suffered a broken neck and wrist.Poast was southbound on 550 West about 5:15 p.m. when he swerved to miss a vehicle that was turning onto 1975 North. The motorcycle ran off the road and into a barbed-wire fence, ejecting him into a field, said Provo Police Sgt. Richard Healey.
