Alex Carroll Tvedtnes died June 4, 1992, in Salt Lake City at the age of 75.

He was born December 29, 1916 in Penrose, Wyoming. He entered the U.S. Army During World War II and was wounded three times during combat in Normandy, France. In 1949, Mr. Tvedtnes brought his family to Salt Lake City, where he worked for Garrett Freightlines. He retired after 35 accident-free years as a truck driver. He was active in the Teamsters Union and held offices in his retiree's local. He also served in the Utah Senior Legislature and played a role on the committee that proposed Utah's current drunk driving law. Mr. Tvedtnes, a long-time member and supporter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Margaret (Peggy) Martin, and a daughter.

He is survived by two sisters, a brother, two sons, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services and interment will be held at Memorial Estates, 6500 South Redwood Road, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 9. Friends may call for viewing, 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to services.
