Maria Johanna Diender Vanderbeek, age 75, died June 6, 1992 at her home in Salt Lake City.

She was born April 23, 1917 in The Hague, Netherlands, daughter of Peter and Angenita Diender.She married Henri Vanderbeek, September 11, 1935 in The Hague, Netherlands, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple September 11, 1975.

The family immigrated to America in 1950. Maria served as a primary president and as a Relief Society worker. She had a great love for music, and gardening. Maria was devoted to her husband and children. She filled her life with selfless service for the elderly and for her friends.

She is survived by her daughter and sons: Angenita and Dixon Ford, Farmington; Harry and Connie Vanderbeek, Sandy; Fritz and Tove Vanderbeek, Magna; Hans and Jody Vanderbeek, Ogden; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters Germanianus Diender, Arie Swenson, Tinus Diender, Wilhelmina Diender, Petronella Vanderbeek Palache, Aafke Vis, Meindert Diender, Peter Diender, and Jan Diender.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters Johanna Palache and Angenita Schouten, a grandson John Scott Vanderbeek.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 10, 1992 at 11:00 a.m. in the North Point 1st LDS Ward 1460 North Morton Drive. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at

Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary Chapel, 295 North Main and Wednesday at the church 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment in the Lakeview Cemetery, Bountiful, Utah
