Home-school success: Ken and Laurie Parker decided 10 years ago to educate their children at home because they felt it was the right thing to do.
"Time has proven that we made the right decision," Ken Parker said. The Parkers, who live in Salt Lake City, have seven children ages 14 years to 18 months. Parker said seeing his and other children excel academically and socially outside the public school system validates home schooling. See Page D6.Crash was accidental: Investigators are leaning toward the theory that the Thursday evening crash of a 40-ton water truck into a Bountiful home appears to be an accident rather than vandalism, according to Bountiful police.
The truck - which was parked at the construction site of the new LDS temple - rolled down 200 feet of an oakbrush-covered hillside and crashed into a home at 295 S. 1500 East. The house, which was damaged beyond repair, was empty at the time. See Page B3.
New West Jordan manager: Even though this community has seen three city managers depart in the past two years, James Reams is not worried about a short tenure in his new job as city manager. See Page B6.
