The Karen Shepherd for Congress Campaign Committee released preliminary figures of political contributions, announcing that Shepherd received more than $170,000.
"I am extremely pleased that most of our contributions, over $130,000, have come from individual contributors," Shepherd said.A report expected to be released in early June will list the total contributions and the names of the more than 1,200 individual donors, most of whom live within the congressional district.
The Shepherd campaign has also been included on EMILY'S List, a national support network that raises money for Democratic women candidates. In 1992, EMILY'S List has become the leading financial supporter of women candidates by contributing more than $1 million.
