Rep. Nick Joe Rahall had a difficult time convincing a pack of Cub Scouts he should be re-elected over opponent Ben Waldman in November.

Rahall, D-W.Va., was campaigning Saturday at the Farmers Day parade in Monroe County when he approached Pack 502. Waldman is pack leader."I saw him there talking to my boys, so I walked over and introduced myself," Waldman said. "He looked a little taken aback when one of the Scouts called me `daddy.' "

Waldman, a Republican, said he explained to the Scouts who Rahall is.

"I reminded them that part of their Cub Scout pledge is to do their duty to God and their country," he said. "Rahall is a member of Congress and the boys have to learn to respect their elected officials."
