A motorcyclist was in serious condition and a horse had to be destroyed following an accident early Tuesday on University Avenue.
Motorcyclist Eric West, 25, was northbound at 2:15 a.m. when he slammed into the hindquarters of a gelding at 3500 N. University Ave. The horse had escaped from a nearby pasture.There are no street lights along that section of roadway. West, who was traveling approximately 50 mph on a Honda 450, didn't see the horse before he hit it, said Police Cpl. Brian Nichols.
West suffered a broken shoulder blade and other injuries in the accident. He was in serious condition Tuesday at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.
