A lightning strike caused a fire that burned about 20 acres of oak brush in Hobble Creek Canyon Monday evening and early Tuesday.

Uinta National Forest fire crews were mopping up Tuesday morning after spending the night battling flames in Right Fork, about nine miles up the canyon.Forest spokeswoman Loyal Clark said firefighters had to pack their equipment in on foot over steep terrain because there were no access roads to the area.

Winds that whipped up 20-foot flames died down and temperatures cooled during the night, allowing fire crews to contain the blaze by morning.

"We got really lucky last night," Clark said.

The fire was spotted by reconnaissance plane about 6 p.m. Monday.
