Cory Snyder of the San Francisco Giants was named National League Player of the week, while Kirby Puckett of Minnesota and Jeff Montgomery of Kansas City shared the honor in the American League.

Snyder hit .609 (14-for-23) with 11 RBIs and two homers last week.

Puckett hit .414 with 10 RBI and three homers. Montgomery, a right-handed relief pitcher, saved four of the Royals' five victories last week without giving up a run in 3 1-3 innings.
