In response to Carlos Whiting (Forum, July 20) in which he stated that the office of attorney general is no place for a judge, I wish to strongly disagree.
Scott Daniels, candidate for attorney general and former judge of the Third Judicial District, left his position on the bench to run for public office after 10 years of continuous public service. For four of those years, Daniels was presiding judge over operations of the 14 Third District Trial Courts, a position to which he was elected by other judges.Compare Daniels' record with Jan Graham's three years at the attorney general's office overseeing criminal appeals, an area of law in which she had no prior experience.
Daniels, on the other hand, presided over literally thousands of civil and criminal cases. He was personally responsible for the administration of justice that affected countless parties in civil law suits, criminal defendants and their victims, as well as people involved in domestic-relations litigation.
The voting public deserves to know the truth about each candidate's qualifications before casting a vote.
