ARSON SUSPECTED IN BOUNTIFUL FIRE

Arson is suspected in a Friday night fire that destroyed about $1,000 worth of military surplus gear in a Bountiful storage yard, according to Bountiful Fire Chief Jerry Lemon.

The 10 p.m. fire destroyed tarps and wooden storage boxes in a root cellar behind a home in the storage yard at 2727 S. 625 West, Lemon said. The salvage yard is owned by Larry Starch, Lemon said.Starch lives in Arizona and has not actively operated the salvage yard for the past couple years, the fire chief said, and it has been repeatedly targeted by vandals.

Lemon said no one was injured in the fire.
