A Salt Lake police officer on Thursday arrested a suspect near a bank that had just been robbed.

A man entered Zion First National, 1304 S. Foothill Blvd., at 2 p.m. and announced a robbery, Salt Lake Police Lt. Scott Atkinson said.Two tellers handed over their money and the man left but not before a silent alarm was tripped. An officer, responding to the alarm, spotted a man matching the description of the robber at 1900 E. 1300 South.

He arrested the 40-year-old Salt Lake man and recovered money allegedly taken from the bank.
