2 S.L. THEATER COMPANIES OPEN THEIR '92-93 SEASONS WITH FILM GENRE SENDUPS

The 1992-93 season openers for Pioneer Theatre Company and the Theater League of Utah are both similar, yet different, spoofs of early Hollywood film genres.

The first, PTC's "A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine," opening Wednesday, lampoons '30s and '40s musicals and comedies, while the TLU-sponsored touring production of "City of Angels," arriving Sept. 22, is rooted in film noir whodunits."Hollywood/Ukraine" is comprised of two distinctly separate one-act segments, but the intricately plotted "City of Angels" deftly blends Technicolor realism with black-and-white fiction.
