Ninety-two-year-old Franklin Elementary School is coming down, a middle school will go up and Provo High School's basketball team will have a new place to play. Provo residents approved an $18 million Provo School District bond issue during the Sept. 8 elections. The district will spend $4 million to tear down and rebuild Franklin. A tentative plan calls for the new school to be built east of the existing building while school remains in session in the old building. Once the building is complete, the antiquated structure will be razed.
