Gov. Norm Bangerter proclaims "Stephen Mikita Day" in Utah on Friday. Mikita, left, an assistant attorney general, was honored this past weekend with the Muscular Dystrophy Association's first national Personal Achievenment Award. Carole Mikita, his sister, stands next to him. Stephen Mikita was born with Wednig-Hoffman disease, a neuro-muscular disorder. Besides his legal work for the Health Department, Mikita is an expert on the Americans with Disabilities Act and has provided extensive training for businesses, schools and government on its requirements. During the ceremony, attended by about two dozen of his "closest friends," Mikita joked about the attention he was receiving. "We're getting a billboard that says, 'A pretty, great guy."
