A woman and her 3-month old baby were reunited Tuesday night at the same Berkeley hospital where the infant was stolen from the mother's arms in June.
The infant, known as "Baby Kerri," was found alive and well by Berkeley police and the FBI Tuesday in the nearby city of Richmond after a tip from a local resident. The baby was taken from her mother's arms two days after being born June 10 by a woman masquerading as a health-care worker. The infant had been the subject of an intense search, which included a dramatized segment on the television show "America's Most Wanted."
Police said it was tip No. 1,060 which led authorities to the Richmond house Tuesday.
"This is the one lead we've been holding out for," said Lt. Tom Grant.
Karen Lea Hughes, 41, of Richmond, was arrested in the case.
