4 S.L. HEISTS ARE WORK OR 1 MAN OR GROUP, POLICE BELIEVE

Salt Lake police say four recent robberies of gas stations or convenience stores are probably the work of one man or group of men.

Shortly before midnight Saturday, a man robbed the Rainbo Oil station at 874 E. 1300 South. The following night, the Circle K store at 701 E. 2700 South was robbed about 9:40 p.m. by a man who threatened to shoot the clerk. At 11:30 p.m., the Sinclair Gas station at 105 W. 600 South also was robbed, this time by two men, one of whom may have held a sawed-off shotgun under his shirt.

About 3:15 a.m. Monday, a man carrying what appeared to be a sawed-off shotgun under a shirt robbed the Circle K store at 505 S. Redwood Road.

"We definitely believe they are related," said Lt. Marty Vuyk.

Investigators are reviewing a tape shot by a security video camera during one of the robberies to try to identify the suspect.
