- BYU's women's volleyball team was aced 15-11, 15-13, 15-13 by second-ranked Stanford Tuesday night in the Smith Fieldhouse.
The Cougars, ranked 10th, lifted their hitting percentage to .170 against the Cardinal, getting their best output from Michelle Fellows with 13 kills against three errors in 29 attempts for .344 percent. Fellows played a complete game in scoring three service aces, six digs, two block solos and two block assists. BYU teammate Carol Rawson added 10 kills with five errors out of 22 attempts for .227 hitting, and had five block assists, tops on the floor.- Brigham Young University football fans have donated more than $20,000 to the United Way-Red Cross Relief Fund for victims of last month's Hurricane Andrew in the Florida and Louisiana areas.
BYU students helped collect donations from the crowd before, during and after last Thursday night's game against San Diego State.
- Weber State's volleyball travels to Fort Collins, Colorado this Thursday and Friday for matches with Colorado State and Western Kentucky University. The 'Cats will play Colorado State at Moby Arena on Thursday at 7 p.m. and will meet Western Kentucky for the first time on Friday at 5 p.m., also at Moby Arena. Weber State is 1-6 on the season.
- Weber State's women's cross country team opens its 1992 season this Saturday at the University of California-Irvine Cross Country Invitational. The women's 5,000 meter run starts at 8:30 a.m. at Irvine Park in Orange, California.
