Erich Carl Oskar Pletsch, age 86, died September 15, 1992 in American Fork, Utah.

He was born January 12, 1906 in Attendorn, Germany, a son of Karl Ludwig and Elizabeth Louise Ella Stollberg Pletsch. He married Mary Lois Hart on September 22, 1939 in Woodstock, Vermont. Marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. She died January 27, 1978.He was schooled in Germany, graduating from Fredrichs Polytechnikum in Kothen in 1928 in the field of Metallurgy. He immigrated to American in 1930 and became a U.S. Citizen.

As a result of his research activity at M.I.T., in the early 1940's, Exomet, Inc., was formed in Conneaut, Ohio in 1947. He was vice president and plant manger at Exoment, until his retirement in 1970.

He has lived in Provo since that time. His interests included fruit farming, national parks, painting and genealogy. He was an active member of the Pleasant View 3rd Ward, having served as a temple worker at the Provo Temple for close to 20 years. He was a life long Kiwanian and previously active in politics, civic and youth organizations.

Erich is survived by two sons, Carl E. Pletsch, Oxford, Ohio; Peter G. Pletsch, Provo, Utah and seven grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 21, 1992 at 11 a.m. in the Pleasant View 3rd Ward Chapel, 650 Stadium Avenue, Provo. Friends may call Sunday evening 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Berg Mortuary Provo, 185 East Center Street. Interment Orem City Cemetery.
