The Judge Memorial girls soccer team used a strong first half and held off a second-half rally to down Jordan, 3-2, in a Region 2 game Thursday.

At halftime, the Bulldogs appeared to be in control, with a 3-0 lead, thanks to two defensive players who became offensive in scoring two of Judge's three goals. Sweeper Albertina Cabal headed in a corner kick for the Bulldogs and right fullback Keri Smith scored another goal. Katy Ellis, a midfielder, added the third. While the Judge fullbacks added goal scoring to their repertoire, it didn't mean they took a break on their own end of the field. The quartet of Cabal, Smith, Beth Hildebrand and Jenny Stansfield held the Beetdiggers to only two goals on the afternoon.

For Jordan, forward Vicki Thomas and midfielder Tawni Epperson each scored in the second half to narrow the lead to one, but that is as close as the Beetdiggers could come.

Not only did the Jordan offense shine in the second half, but the defense, which held the Bulldogs scoreless, also played well. Sweeper Robyn Uribe and stopper Jill Bennion led the Jordan effort.

The win improved Judge's record to 5-2, while the loss dropped the Beetdiggers to 3-4.
