The Dallas Mavericks traded veteran forward Rodney McCray to the NBA champion Chicago Bulls on Friday in a three-team trade also involving the Golden State Warriors.
The Mavericks got three draft choices in the deal, including Golden State's first pick in 1993, provided the Warriors don't qualify for the draft lottery. If Golden State is a lottery team, Dallas would get the Warriors' No. 1 selection in the first subsequent year that Golden State makes the playoffs. The Bulls sent Dallas two conditional second-round choices in the deal and sent Byron Houston, chosen 27th in the June draft, to Golden State.
McCray, 31, averaged 9 points and 6 rebounds in just over 28 minutes for Dallas last season. He is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent after the 1993 season, which will be his 10th in the NBA.
