The Salt Lake Trappers maintained their one-game lead over the Helena Brewers in the Pioneer League Southern Division, notching a 9-1 win Tuesday over the Idaho Falls Gems.
Barry Parisotto scattered seven hits over seven innings and gave up just one run to lead Salt Lake's strong pitching effort.On the other side of the plate, Trapper J.D. Ramirez went three-for-three, batting in three and scoring two runs. Kevin McMullen drove in two and scored three.
Helena survived a high-scoring bout against against Butte, escaping with a 9-8 victory. The Brewers close out the season against the Copper Kings, with games Wednesday and Thursday in Butte and Friday and Saturday in Helena.
The Trappers play Wednesday in Idaho Falls and end the season with a three-game homestand vs. the Gems.
The Pioneer League playoffs will open Sept. 7 at the park of the Billings Mustangs.
