STORMS, QUAKE WREAK HAVOC IN GUAM, CHINA AND INDONESIA

Boats lie tangled at Guam's main port after Typhoon Omar swept through the area. Elsewhere, the death toll from Tropical Storm Polly along China's coastal province of Zhejiang hit 122 as heavy rains caused floods and landslides. At least 10 people are missing. Close to 50,000 homes were flattened by wind and rain. Economic losses from the storm totaled more than $3.7 million, the Xinhua news agency reported. In Indonesia, a strong earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale jolted the island of Java Wednesday, but no casualties or damage were reported. The quake's epicenter was in the Java Sea. Floods in Indonesia's central and east Java provinces killed at least six people, damaged dozens of buildings and forced thousands to evacuate. Rainfall since Saturday caused rivers to overflow in East Java, flooding thousands of homes. Four people died.
