In Indonesia, a strong earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale jolted the island of Java Wednesday, but no casualties or damage were reported. The quake's epicenter was in the Java Sea. Floods in Indonesia's central and east Java provinces killed at least six people, damaged dozens of buildings and forced thousands to evacuate. Rainfall since Saturday caused rivers to overflow in East Java, flooding thousands of homes. Four people died.
