Dr. William Seldon Owens, age 66, loving husband, father, and grandfather, died of a heart attack, September 18, 1992 while serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Manchester, New Hampshire.

He was born in Boise, Idaho, to Joseph Alma and Elveretta Harris Owens, May 14, 1926. He was raised in Glenns Ferry, Idaho. He served in World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart. He married Carol Diane Jensen, August 31, 1950 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He graduated from the University of Utah Medical School in 1956. After working with Tanner Memorial Clinic in Layton, he joined the staff of Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in 1970, and moved to Orem with his family. He established a private practice there and retired in 1991, to serve a full time mission with his wife and companion of 42 years.He is survived by his wife, Carol, Orem/Manchester, New Hampshire; 12 children, Richard, of Tempe, Arizona; Jonathan, Bountiful; Diane Peterson, Orem; Jim, Layton; Fred, Orem; Mari Bertola, Toquerville, Utah; Gary, Layton; Christine Worthington, Orem; Cathe Runyan, Logan; Becci Taylor, Ogden; Deborah Hillam, Lisbon, Portugal; Andrew, Ohio Cleveland Mission; 40 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, David, and a sister, Rita (Mrs. Jewel) Lawrence. He also is survived by two brothers, two sisters, Marva (Mrs. Bill) Moats, New Meadows, Idaho; Joseph Lyle, Orem; Robert T., Logan/Bountiful; Karen (Mrs. Doug) Anderson, West Jordan/Brigham City.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 1992, 11 a.m. at the Sunset Heights Stake Center, 1260 So. 400 West, Orem. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Berg Mortuary of Orem, 500 North State St., Orem, and Wednesday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Orem City Cemetery.
