DUBCEK ON LIFE SUPPORT; PROGNOSIS IS UNCERTAIN

Former Czechoslovak leader Alexander Dubcek has been put onto an artificial breathing apparatus, is semiconscious and his further state of health is uncertain, doctors said Saturday.

Dubcek, 70, who led the short-lived 1968 "Prague Spring" democratizaton movement in Czechoslovakia, suffered a serious car accident Sept. 1.A statement issued by the federal assembly spokesman, quoting doctors in Prague's Homolka hospital, said Dubcek was suffering from blood circulation problems in the brain, and as a result had been placed on a respirator.
