Davis County Sheriff Glenn Clary was honored Wednesday for 35 years of service in law enforcement. His career began with the Sunset Police Department, took him to California, and back to the county as sheriff.
Clary, in a surprise presentation, was given a plaque and a fifth gold uniform star - one for every five years of service - at Wednesday's Davis County Commission meeting. His wife, Donna, pinned the fifth star on his uniform.
Clary started as a patrolman in Sunset in 1957, went on to become a county deputy sheriff, then worked in law enforcement in California until returning to Utah a decade ago. He was police chief of Riverdale, Weber County, before his current term as sheriff began in January 1991.
