2 U.S. BALLOONISTS SET RECORD FOR LONGEST FLIGHT

Two American balloonists landed in Morocco Tuesday after setting a record for the world's longest balloon flight on the final day of the first trans-Atlantic balloon race, organizers said.

Tony Bradley and Richard Abruzzo landed in Bensliman, about 15 miles southeast of Casablanca, at about 6 a.m. after more than 146 hours in the air, said a spokesman at the Rotterdam race control center. They earlier smashed the previous duration record of 137 hours, set by Abruzzo's father and two companions during the first trans-Atlantic balloon voyage in 1978.

The pair were the last competitors to land in a seven-day race that was won Monday by a team representing Belgium.
