- On the road to a healthy life:

"One the road to a healthy life" is the theme for the Utah Medical Association this year. Joye Shiozawa, president of the Utah Medical Association Auxiliary, selected the theme.Other officers of the group are: Nancy Wright, Kathy Mackay, Debra Williams, Bonnie Brown, Geniel Christian, Teresa Skabelund, Suzanne Stones, Lily Smith and Bethine Bernhisel.

- Legal Assistants of Utah:

Kay D. Bateman, Eve Rees and Donald F. Lilquist recently passed the two-day Certified Legal Assistant Examination to earn the "CLA" designation.

- Cadet Beach honored:

Cadet Daniel Gertsch Beach, son of Stephen E. and Darlene Beach of Salt Lake City, is one of 60 athletes who attended the Missouri Military Academy's 1992 Colonels Football Camp earlier this month.

The Missouri Colonels football team had a 3-5 record last season and hopes for a better season this year.

- Damon K. Steed, 18, son of Kenneth and Jeannie Steed of Salt Lake City, has enlisted in the Army Reserves for six years. He is a 1992 graduate of Hillcrest High.

- Brett W. Myers, 18, son of Larry and Toni Myers of Salt Lake City, has enlisted in the Army Reserves for six years. He is a 1992 graduate of Highland High.

- Travis M. McDonald, 18, son of Max and Barbara McDonald of Hooper, has enlisted in the Army Reserves for six years.

- Air Force Sgt. Stephanie J. Powell has arrived for duty at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Va. She is a medical laboratory specialist and the daughter of Michael R. and Patricia A. Scherzinger of West Valley city. She is a 1986 Kearns High graduate.

- Air Force Capt. James P. Poehl has arrived for duty at RAF Lakenheath, England. His wife, Lynnanne, is the daughter of Herbert A. and Gladus Bouton of Clearfield.

- U.S. Navy/Marine news:

- Philip B. Henderson, 18, son of Bethany and Rex Johnson of West Jordan and the grandson of Norman and Betty Simpson of West Valley City, has enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years and is receiving recruit training in Cape May, N.J. He is a 1992 graduate of West Jordan High.

- Tyson L. Marino, 18, son of LaRaine and Rick Runyon, and grandson of Blanche Brown of Kearns, has enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard for four years and is receiving recruit training in Cape May, N.J. He is a 1992 graduate of Palmer High School, Palmer, Ala.

- Navy Seaman Jerry D. Scovill, son of Devon D. and Wilma C. Scovill of Salt Lake City, recently reported for duty aboard the submarine tender USS Frank Cable. He is a 1989 graduate of Taylorsville High.

- Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Mark S. Corbett, son of Veronica M. Hill of Salt Lake City and of Eugene M. Corbett of Clearfield, recently reported for duty aboard the submarine tender USS McKee, homeported in San Diego.

- Navy Seaman Kevin B. Pyne, son of Judith D. Waechter of Kearns, recently reported for duty aboard the USS Nimitz, aircraft carrier. He is a 1990 graduate of Kearns High.

- Navy fireman Apprentice Michael L. Christenson, son of Larry D. Christenson and Susan L. Merrill of West Valley City, recently participated in two major maritime exercise aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk.

- Gregory C. Archbold, son of Clark B. and Donna Archbold of Salt Lake City, recently participated in a five-nation maritime exercise aboard the submarine USS Pasadena.

- Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Steven R. Wood, son of Ralph E. and Agnes R. Wood of Murray, recently reported for duty at Naval Hospital, Beauford, S.C.

- Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Brian D. Unsicker, son of Claudia Jensen of Salt Lake City, recently received a certificate of commendation for superior performance while on duty at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Washington.

- Marine Pfc. Michael D. Hansen, a 1990 graduate of Davis High, recently completed recruit training and was meritoriously promoted to his present rank.

- Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Steven D. Corum, son of Brenda L. Downes of Sandy, recently received the Navy Achievement Medal for superior performance while serving with the Helicopter Mine Countermeasure Squadron.

- Navy Seaman Gary W. Conrad, son of Kenneth W. and Carol A. Conrad of Salt Lake City, recently participated in a five-nation maritime exercise aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Horne.

- Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Paul A. Skinner, son of Phill A. and Tina C. Skinner of Salt Lake City, recently reported for duty aboard the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga.

- Navy Seaman Apprentice Jeremy D. Mosher, son of Donald A. and Margaret J. Mosher of Kaysville, recently participated in a major maritime exercise aboard the guided missile cruiser USS Arkansas. He is a 1990 graduate of Davis High.

- Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Scott R. Weeks, a 1989 graduate of Brighton High, was recently promoted to his present rank while serving aboard the submarine USS Aspro.

- Marine Cpl. James. W. Drysdale, a resident of Salt Lake City, was recently promoted to his present rank while serving with the 4th Marine Division in Salt Lake City. He is a 1986 graduate of Davis High School.

- Navy fireman Billy H. Wood, whose wife, Julie, is the daughter of Jackie Nielsen of Kearns, recently participated in two major maritime exercises aboard the command ship USS Coronado, homeported in San Diego.

- Marine Lance Cpl. Scott E. Willette, a 1989 graduate of Layton High,, recently reported for duty with Marine Air Support Squadron III, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Pendleton, Calif.
