AMERICAN EXPRESS OFFICIAL FILLS POST ON S.L. CHAMBER BOARD

David L. Boyles, senior vice president of systems and operations at the American Express

Travelers Cheque Operations Center, has been elected to the board of governors of the Salt Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.He replaces Maria Smith Moore, former station manager of KUTV Inc., who has accepted employment in another state. Since Moore began her term on July 1, Boyles will serve nearly a three-year term.

Boyles joined American Express Travelers Cheques in 1990 after serving as vice president and general manager for American Express' U.S. Western Region. He was appointed to his present position on March 30, 1992.

Before he started with American Express, Boyles worked for Downey Savings Bank, Newport Beach, Calif., and before that worked for BankAmerica Corp. He has a master's degree in business administration from Washington State University and also has master's and bachelor's degrees in psychology from the University of Northern Colorado.
