ENVIRONMENT WOES REPEL BUSINESS, HOLT SAYS

Democratic 1st Congressional District candidate Ron Holt said he was saddened to hear Wal-Mart Stores Inc. decided against building a large plant in Tooele County due to negative publicity about the environment in the area.

"I am deeply concerned that Wal-Mart probably isn't the first company to bypass Tooele County because of its environmental problems," Holt said. "Wal-Mart probably won't be the last."Holt said he has appreciated economic contributions to Utah by the Tooele Army Depot and the Dugway Proving Grounds.

"I'm not trying to shut any of them down," he said. "But I do have some serious concerns."
