Veteran actor William Katt Sr., the husband of actress Barbara Hale and best known for the title role in the TV series "Kit Carson," has died after a long illness. He was 77.
Katt, who also worked under the stage name of Bill Williams, died Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital.Katt starred for four years as the frontier scout, Kit Carson, in the early 1950s, and had starring roles in the movies, "Deadline at Dawn," "The Giant Spider Invasion," "Rio Lobo" and "Assignment Underwater. "
He met Hale during the filming of "West of the Pecos" in 1946, and the couple starred together in several movies.
Katt is survived by his wife and three children, actor William Katt Jr. and daughters Jody Katt Coulter and Nita Katt King, as well as four grandchildren.
