The addition to Juab High School will be built, but it will not have the greenhouse the original plans called for.
"We awarded the bid to Adcon, Orem, and construction is going forward," said Superintendent Kirk Wright, Juab School District. "By eliminating the greenhouse and other minor items, we were able to bring the price down nearly $100,000."Stepping pads on the roof and minor items of that kind were eliminated, said Wright.
"We hated to eliminate the greenhouse," said Wright. The plan was to use the greenhouse to aid science students with experiments with plants and seed production.
"The greenhouse was a self-contained unit," said Wright. It could be removed from the plans without altering or having to have any of the plans redrawn.
"The possibility exists of adding the greenhouse later," said Wright. "The plumbing exists."
The board of education is still contemplating an addition to the middle school for next year and has put some other projects on hold until the new classroom project at the high school is completed. The addition is expected to be completed this winter.
