SKYLINE EDGES REGION 2 RIVAL ALTA

Alisha Rees scored on a Tiffanie Hibbert pass in overtime to break a 1-1 tie and give Skyline an important Region 2 girls soccer victory Wednesday afternoon at Alta.

The Eagles are now 6-3 in the region, one game behind Olympus and two behind Brighton. The Hawks fell to 5-3 with the loss.Alta scored first on goal by Jenn Morrill midway through the first half, but Skyline responded quickly about one minute later when Hibbert's free kick sailed over a wall of defenders, past the Hawk goal keeper and into the net.

With neither team scoring in the second half, it was Rees' goal in OT that was the difference.

Region 2

Olympus 4, East 0

At East, the Titans continued their winning ways with another shutout victory. Olympus is now 7-2 in the region and 9-2 overall. Michelle Jensen scored a pair of goals, while Marta Savage and Lindsay Rupp also scored. Katie Fetzer and Michelle Brady split time in goal to earn the victory. East fell to 2-7 with the loss.

Brighton 4, Cottonwood 0

At Brighton, Kristen Gordon exploded for all four goals for the Bengals. Gordon scored on a penalty kick and off assists by Stephanie Jones, Becky Davey and Sydney Stoner. Tracie Naisbitt earned the shutout victory as the goalie. Brighton is now 8-1 in the region and 9-1-1 overall.

Region 5

Ogden 1, Sky View 0

At Ogden, the Tigers pulled a mild upset by downing the third-ranked Bobcats. Debbie Ellsworth scored the game's only goal. Ogden and Sky View are in a tight battle for second place in the region. The Tigers are 5-2; Bobcats are 6-2.

Ben Lomond 3, Logan 0

At Logan, the second-ranked Scots remained unbeaten with the victory over the Grizzlies. Ben Lomond is now 8-0, while Logan dropped to 4-4.

Box Elder 1, Mountain Crest 0

At Mountain Crest, Melanie Christensen scored the only goal of the game to lead the Bees to a win over the Mustangs. Both teams are now 2-6 in the region.
