Veteran entertainers Rita Moreno and Carol Channing met only recently, and they've decided to tour nationally as "Two Ladies of Broadway."
"I'm not really sure why we hadn't met, but we like each other immensely," said Moreno, 60, in a telephone interview from her Pacific Palisades, Calif., home.Moreno won the 1961 Academy Award for best supporting actress in "West Side Story" and a Tony in 1975 for "The Ritz" on Broadway. Channing, 69, earned a 1964 Tony Award as best actress in "Hello Dolly." Both have Emmy and Grammy awards, too.
"We sing one song together where we launch into ghastly insults," Moreno said. "Carol says I should do my hair natural like hers and I tell her `if I did my hair like yours, I'd be bald.' "
