A delegation of Russian experts will tour the chemical arms destruction facilities at Tooele Army Depot next week as part of an agreement to help Russia destroy the Soviet Union's chemical weapons stockpiles.

The 14-member delegation will tour the Army's prototype chemical disposal facility and the full-scale plant now under construction Monday and Tuesday. They will also visit Tooele County's emergency operations center, where response to a chemical accident is coordinated, and attend in-depth briefings on the United States' chemical disposal program during their two-day stay, a spokesman said.

The visit is at the request of local Russian leaders and "enhances" an agreement signed in July by the Department of Defense and Russian President Boris Yeltsin's committee on conventional problems of chemical and biological weapons of the Russian Federation, the spokesman said.
