MAPLE LEAFS EDGE FLAMES IN EXHIBITION

Four different players scored as the Toronto Maple Leafs extended their unbeaten streak in exhibition games to four with a 4-3 victory Saturday night over the Calgary Flames.

Rob Pearson, Doug Gilmour, Nikolai Borschevsky and Guy Larose scored for the Maple Leafs. Gary Suter, Theoren Fleury and Gary Leeman scored for the Flames.Toronto outshot Calgary 35-26.

Toronto is 2-0-2 and Calgary is 4-3-0 halfway through the preseason schedule. The regular season begins Oct. 6.

Pearson opened the scoring in the 13th minute. Yanic Perreault won a faceoff in Calgary's zone. The puck bounced to Pearson and he darted towards the crease to sweep a shot past goaltender Andrei Trefilov.

Fleury made it 3-2 at 18:00 of the second. He got behind the defense and pushed a rebound past Rick Wamsley, who had taken over from Fuhr midway through the period.
