S.L.'S LEVY WILL HIT IHL ICE

When the Salt Lake Golden Eagles open their home schedule Oct. 10 and 12 at the Delta Center, staring them down from the goal on the other side of the ice could be a Salt Lake City native. Jeff Levy, the Highland High School product, has been assigned by the Minnesota North Stars to their International Hockey League affiliate, the Kalamazoo Wings, who are the Eagles' first home opponents.

Levy was born in Salt Lake Dec. 9, 1970, and rose through the amateur and high school system, advancing to Junior A in Rochester, N.Y., in the U.S. Junior Hockey League. He was drafted in the seventh round of the 1990 amateur draft by the North Stars but went accepted a scholarship at the University of New Hampshire. He was Hockey East second-team all-star and rookie of the year for 1991 in the ECAC ad an NCAA second-team All-American with a 3.22 goals-against average in 24 games.
