An unusual form of rejection may be partly responsible for the sudden decline in the condition of the world's first baboon liver transplant recipient, doctors in Pittsburgh said.
Dr. John Fung of Presbyterian University Hospital said Wednesday the man's dosage of steroids has been increased to fight off possible rejection. Fung said the liver looks good and a biopsy indicated no symptoms of classic rejection. But Fung said it's possible some type of unusual type of rejection is taking place."We're not 100 percent sure what's going on," Fung said.
