BINGHAM, BRIGHTON SQUARE OFF AS 4A FINISHES NON-LEAGUE PLAY

While Class 2A schools move into their second week of league play, most schools in 4A and 3A play their final non-league contests Friday as prep football moves into its second week.

Two teams expected to be among the top teams in 4A this year, Bingham and Brighton, will meet at South Jordan Friday night after both got off to unexpected losing starts last week.Bingham was upset by Cottonwood 20-18, while Brighton was beaten at home by a good Bonneville club 21-14. Both teams will be fired up for a victory, but one team will go home 0-2.

In other top non-region games, East plays at West at 4 p.m. in a battle of unbeaten longtime city rivals, explosive Hunter plays host to Cottonwood at 5 p.m. and defending 3A champ Bountiful plays host to 4A Layton, which looked good in a 33-14 win over Logan last week, at 7:30 p.m. No. 1 ranked Bonneville will play unbeaten Kearns in Ogden, while No. 2 Skyline plays at American Fork, which also won last week.

The top 2A game pits No. 3 Delta against No. 4 San Juan in Blanding. The winner may have the inside track on the Region 10 title. Another top game in the region has Beaver, a 41-0 winner last week playing at Kanab, which won 38-0.

In Region 9, No. 1-ranked Grantsville is home against Juab, while No. 2 Morgan plays host to Manti.
