THEATER DECISION STILL ON THE AGENDA

Despite an earthquake that disrupted just about every aspect of daily life in Springdale, the City Council will meet as planned Thursday night to decide whether to issue a building permit for a controversial large-screen theater near the south entrance to Zion National Park.

Mayor Bob Ralston, an ardent supporter of the project, predicted the council will approve the theater with some conditions that must be met before construction can begin.Construction on the theater will likely not begin within the next few days, Ralston said, because all heavy equipment will be needed to clean up the damage caused by the quake.
