USU CHIEF NAMED TO HUSS AWARD PANEL

Dr. George H. Emert, president of Utah State University, has been named to a panel of six scientific and technical professionals chosen to select the winner of the Alvin J. Huss Award, given by the American Paper Institute.

"The purpose of the award," according to Red Cavaney, API president, "is to encourage and recognize outstanding research, development and implementation for the best use of chemistry in the reuse of paper and paperboard, other than in the recycling of paper and paperboard within the paper industry itself."The $10,000 cash award, funded by The Huss Foundation, will be presented to the winner at the API presidents' forum Oct. 2 in Amelia Island, Fla.

Emert has formerly served as executive vice president at Auburn University and professor of biochemistry and director of the Biomass Research Center at the University of Alabama.
