UDOT TO BEGIN ROADWORK ON RESERVATION

The Utah Department of Transportation will start work in October on a section of road that runs from U-262 to the Ismay trading post on the Navajo Indian Reservation. The $1.9 million project is being handled by Staker Paving construction company and will include grading, drainage and resurfacing of five miles of road.

The project is being funded by federal matching aid to San Juan County along with funds from the Navajo government. The project will mean better travel for motorists going between the town of Aneth and the Ismay trading post near the Colorado border. Construction is expected to take about three months.
