A briefing for business and government officials concerning assistance to and opportunities in the new independent states of the former Soviet Union is scheduled Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Weber State University.
The briefing is sponsored by the State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development.Featured speakers include David M. Hatcher, special assistant to Ambassador Richard Armitage, and John L. Wilkinson, deputy assistant administrator of the Bureau for Private Enterprise with AID.
Hatcher and Wilkinson will provide points of contact with cooperating U.S. agencies and discuss details on humanitarian and technical assistance projects in progress, plans for future assistance, and private sector business development.
The federal government provides some services to citizens doing business in the newly independent states in the former Soviet Union designed provide up-to-date trade information and reduce the risk of investment.
