DEATH: EVA NANCY ANGELINE MCELRATH WILKES

Beloved mother, grandmother and devoted teacher, Eva Nancy Angeline McElrath Wilkes, 93, died September 4, 1992 in Provo, Utah.

She was born November 22, 1898 in Jackson, Mississippi, a daughter of Oscar Cornelius and Margaret Adeline Sullivan McElrath. She married Wiliam LeRoy Wilkes December 24, 1919 in Phoenix, Arizona; marriage later solemnized in the Mesa LDS Temple. He died June 4, 1986. She graduated from Tempe, Arizona, Norman School. She received her BA from the University of Oregon at Eugene, Oregon. She taught school in Texas, Arizona, California and Oregon. Eva was school Principal in Elmira, Oregon.Member of the LDS Church, she served in many positions in the church organizations. She and her husband filled a mission to the St. George Visitor Center. She enjoyed music, dancing, fishing, poetry and traveling.

She is survived by two sons and a daughter, William LeRoy Wilkes, Jr., San Francisco, Calif.; Floyd A. Wilkes, Farmington; Mrs. Robert K. (Shriley) Thomas, Provo; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Herbert L. (Margaret Elaine)

A memorial service will be held Mon., Sept. 7, 1992, 2 p.m., Berg Mortuary, 185 East Center, Provo. Interment, Mesa City Cemetery, Mesa, Ariz.
