CASTRO SUSPENDS WORK ON CUBA'S 1ST N-PLANT

President Fidel Castro temporarily suspended the building of Cuba's first nuclear power plant Saturday, alleging Russian specialists failed to fulfill contractual obligations, Cuba's official news agency said.

Castro said the building of the Juragua nuclear plant in the central-Cuban town of Cienfuegos has been hampered because Russia failed to provide the needed technical assistance and building materials that it had agreed to under a contract, according to a Prensa Latina report monitored in Mexico City.
