U.N. DISPATCHES AID

Two convoys of U.N. trucks set off Saturday from Islamabad, Pakistan, to take food and medicine to survivors of a flash flood in the foothills of Afghanistan's Hindu Kush that killed at least 450 people. The torrent of mud and boulders thundered down three valleys in northern Afghanistan early Wednesday, razing homes and villages and destroying an entire marketplace in the town of Gulbahar.
