Utah's senators are urging high school student body leaders to apply for a program offering a $2,000 scholarship plus a weeklong trip to Washington that includes visits with top officials there.

The U.S. Senate Youth Program will select two student leaders from each state to travel to Washington from Jan. 30 to Feb. 6.They will spend a day with each of their senators, attend briefings with Cabinet members and a Supreme Court justice, conduct a mock session of Congress on the House floor, tour the White House and visit with the president.

The program also gives a $2,000 college scholarship for the study of American government and related subjects.
