N.M. SUPERINTENDENT MOVES TO DUCHESNE

The Duchesne County School Board has appointed John J. Aland, Bloomfield, N.M., as superintendent. Aland has served as superintendent of the Bloomfield Municipal School District for the past two years.

He has also been principal at Kanab High School and a school administrator in Bear Lake and Montpelier, Idaho.Aland received his degrees from Brigham Young University and Utah State University. He was one of 31 applicants.

Former assistant superintendent Glen Horrocks had postponed his planned retirement to serve as acting superintendent pending appointment of the new superintendent.

"The reason Aland was chosen from those candidates is because he fit with the goals and objectives of the district and he is a very experienced individual," said Horrocks.
