LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE TO FOCUS ON BLACK ISSUES

The second annual Black Leadership Conference, sponsored by the Governor's Black Advisory Council and the Utah Black Roundtable, will be held Sept. 18 and 19 at the state Capitol.

Speakers for the event will include Wilbur Reed and Jerry Grimes of the Colorado Black Roundtable and Linda DuPont Johnson, former director of the Utah Office of Black Affairs and now director of the Washington State Office of Black Affairs.A reception Sept. 18 will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the creation of the ombudsman for black affairs and the governor's council.

The conference will also include a youth symposium, an update on African-American Roundtable and Black Agenda, an art display and workshops.

A limited number of scholarships are available. Deadline for application is Sept. 10. The conference, including meals, costs $25. Attendance at just the reception is $10. For information, call 538-8829.
